I was recently invited to do an interview talk with Sharin Agutierrez #IamSharinlove on Instagram. It was personally inspiring for me as we tackled topics regarding how we can uplift our relationships and ourselves right now. Video coming soon! Simple answer: stay in your lane, once we start pointing fingers and playing the blame game we are no longer nurturing and we begin keeping score of being RIGHT. This approach never leads to successful relationships whether personal, family or
friendships.
According to psychologist Jordan Peterson “winning or being right is not equivalent to fixing” or as I’m saying nurturing healthy relationships. They are concepts that are independent of each other.
In his book Awareness, Anthony De Mello talks about waking up and the challenges of listening to others to discover something new. Reinforcing a habit of discovery will always align with excitement and interest which is another way to build on healthy
connections and support to cope in these challenging times with each other.
TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT YOUR CHARACTER STRENGTHS
This could help you stay in your lane and fill it with some happiness while you discover something new and positive about yourself. I believe It’s always easiest to build on what is already working. So here is a fun, ok well not so fun but useful tool developed by psychologists at Values in Action Institute on Character. I found it a little intense but within 15 minutes it does
provide you with insight and a ranking of your strongest qualities. It ranks your top 5 strengths first. I had ‘appreciation of beauty, love of learning, and forgiveness without being vengeful as part of my top 5.

These strengths can then be applied to your relationships, your health goals, or just a
deeper understanding of who you are in relation to the obvious perception of chaos that is happening in the world right now. It’s a great resource if you’re ready to gain deeper self-awareness and begin listening with open interest to the people in your life that you’re interacting with.
And it can get you a little closer to answering from a position of strength. How are you really doing right now?
