Happiness is a long game and it takes discipline, having good rules for decision making, and training yourself to withstand difficulties.

Over the last two weeks, I decided to start the practice of a 1 day per week 24hour
water fast.

Asking yourself “What is it that you do want?” is a rule you can use to make clear decisions.

In the midst of all the overthinking, over-worrying, over-working, and over-stressing, what can save us is clear thinking! SAY WHAAAT?

Ok, to me, fasting is an inner journey that can help cultivate our discipline. Discipline to say one thing and affirm it with YOUR TRUE INNER THINKING. The thoughts no one else sees or hears depending on your filters :)

The Buddhist's approach to self-discipline is to use every thought, word, and action to benefit other beings.

My personal take on this is before we get to the benefit of others we first need to know and understand ‘our why’ we use every thought, word, and action so that it is beneficial to ourselves.

Knowing and understanding your WHY is also knowing and understanding our motivators for what we think, say, and do.

So yes, a little bit of fasting as a baby step to start disciplining the mind is a healthy place to start to shut down your overthinking, over-worrying, over-working, and over-stressing.
